Ingredients
Scale
- 42 ounces cherry pie filling (two 21-oz cans)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 15.25-ounce box yellow cake mix
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- ½ cup whole milk
Instructions
- Prepare Your Baking Dish.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch pan with butter or nonstick spray. - Add the Cherry Layer.
Pour both cans of cherry pie filling into the baking dish. Spread evenly. - Add Vanilla.
Stir the vanilla extract into the cherry filling layer for enhanced flavor. - Pour in the Milk.
Drizzle the whole milk evenly over the cherry mixture. This helps create a creamier filling. - Add the Cake Mix.
Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the cherry mixture. Do not stir. - Add Melted Butter.
Slowly pour melted butter evenly across the top of the cake mix, covering as much of the surface as possible. - Bake.
Place in the oven and bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbling. - Cool and Serve.
Let cool for 10–15 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm with ice cream, whipped cream, or on its own.
Notes
Do not stir the layers—this ruins the classic dump cake texture.
Add chopped nuts or chocolate chips on top before baking for extra texture.
If you want a crispier topping, bake for an extra 5–8 minutes.
Use high-quality cherry pie filling to improve overall flavor.
