Description

This 7 Layer Halloween Taco Dip Recipe is spooky, delicious, and perfect for parties—an easy, crowd-pleasing appetizer layered with festive flair.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 ounces refried beans
  • 1 cup guacamole
  • 1¼ cups sour cream, divided
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • 8 ounces chunky salsa, drained
  • Juice of ½ lime
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 6 ounces whole black olives, sliced (reserve 34 for garnish)
  • 6 ounces (1½ cups) Mexican-style shredded cheese
  • ½ cup thinly sliced green onions
  • Corn chips or tortilla chips, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the seasoned sour cream: In a small bowl, mix 1 cup of the sour cream with the taco seasoning. Set aside.
  2. Layer 1 (Beans): Spread refried beans evenly across the bottom of a 9×9-inch square dish or serving tray.
  3. Layer 2 (Guacamole): Gently spread the guacamole over the beans. Squeeze lime juice over the guac to keep it fresh and green.
  4. Layer 3 (Sour Cream): Spread the seasoned sour cream evenly over the guacamole.
  5. Layer 4 (Salsa): Add the drained salsa in an even layer over the sour cream.
  6. Layer 5 (Lettuce): Sprinkle shredded lettuce across the salsa layer.
  7. Layer 6 (Cheese): Add a generous layer of Mexican-style shredded cheese.
  8. Layer 7 (Toppings): Finish with sliced black olives and green onions.
  9. Optional Halloween Garnish:
    • Use remaining ¼ cup sour cream to pipe a spiderweb pattern on top (use a piping bag or zip-top bag with the corner snipped).
    • Create spiders using whole olives for bodies and sliced olives for legs.
  10. Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  11. Serve: Pair with tortilla chips or corn chips.

Notes

Use a clear dish to show off the layers.

Drain salsa well to avoid a watery dip.

Customize layers with jalapeños, corn, or diced tomatoes.
