Ingredients
Scale
- 16 ounces refried beans
- 1 cup guacamole
- 1¼ cups sour cream, divided
- 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
- 8 ounces chunky salsa, drained
- Juice of ½ lime
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 6 ounces whole black olives, sliced (reserve 3–4 for garnish)
- 6 ounces (1½ cups) Mexican-style shredded cheese
- ½ cup thinly sliced green onions
- Corn chips or tortilla chips, for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the seasoned sour cream: In a small bowl, mix 1 cup of the sour cream with the taco seasoning. Set aside.
- Layer 1 (Beans): Spread refried beans evenly across the bottom of a 9×9-inch square dish or serving tray.
- Layer 2 (Guacamole): Gently spread the guacamole over the beans. Squeeze lime juice over the guac to keep it fresh and green.
- Layer 3 (Sour Cream): Spread the seasoned sour cream evenly over the guacamole.
- Layer 4 (Salsa): Add the drained salsa in an even layer over the sour cream.
- Layer 5 (Lettuce): Sprinkle shredded lettuce across the salsa layer.
- Layer 6 (Cheese): Add a generous layer of Mexican-style shredded cheese.
- Layer 7 (Toppings): Finish with sliced black olives and green onions.
- Optional Halloween Garnish:
- Use remaining ¼ cup sour cream to pipe a spiderweb pattern on top (use a piping bag or zip-top bag with the corner snipped).
- Create spiders using whole olives for bodies and sliced olives for legs.
- Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- Serve: Pair with tortilla chips or corn chips.
