Description

A gourmet turkey melt layered with smoky applewood turkey, sharp cheddar, and a tangy cranberry whiskey glaze. Comfort food with a festive twist.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices applewood smoked turkey breast
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 8 slices artisan whole wheat bread
  • 1/2 cup fresh cranberries
  • 2 tablespoons whiskey
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine cranberries, whiskey, sugar, and orange juice. Cook over medium heat until cranberries burst and the mixture thickens into a glaze. Set aside.
  2. Butter one side of each bread slice. Place turkey, cheddar, and a spoonful of cranberry glaze between two slices, buttered sides facing out.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook sandwiches for 3–5 minutes per side until bread is golden and cheese is melted.
  4. Slice diagonally and serve warm with extra glaze on the side.

Notes

Make the glaze ahead of time and store it in the fridge for up to 1 week. Pairs well with a crisp salad or sweet potato fries.
