Ingredients
Scale
- 8 slices applewood smoked turkey breast
- 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
- 8 slices artisan whole wheat bread
- 1/2 cup fresh cranberries
- 2 tablespoons whiskey
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon orange juice
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine cranberries, whiskey, sugar, and orange juice. Cook over medium heat until cranberries burst and the mixture thickens into a glaze. Set aside.
- Butter one side of each bread slice. Place turkey, cheddar, and a spoonful of cranberry glaze between two slices, buttered sides facing out.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook sandwiches for 3–5 minutes per side until bread is golden and cheese is melted.
- Slice diagonally and serve warm with extra glaze on the side.
Notes
Make the glaze ahead of time and store it in the fridge for up to 1 week. Pairs well with a crisp salad or sweet potato fries.
