Description
Easy Banana Split Dump Cake combines bananas, pineapple, strawberries, and cake mix for a quick dessert that tastes like a sundae.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Dump Cake Base:
- 4 medium ripe bananas, sliced
- 1 can (20 oz) crushed pineapple, drained
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced (plus more for topping)
- 1 box yellow or white cake mix
- 1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter, melted
For the Toppings:
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream (or 1 tub whipped topping)
- 1–2 bananas, sliced (for garnish)
- ½ cup fresh strawberries, halved or sliced
- ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts
- Optional: Chocolate syrup or melted chocolate for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
- Layer the fruits. Spread the sliced bananas evenly in the bottom of the pan. Spoon the drained crushed pineapple on top, followed by the sliced strawberries.
- Add the cake mix. Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the fruit layer — do not stir.
- Add butter. Drizzle the melted butter evenly across the entire surface to moisten the cake mix. Gaps are okay — the butter will spread as it bakes.
- Bake. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Cool slightly. Let the cake cool for at least 10–15 minutes before adding toppings.
- Add toppings. Spread whipped cream or spoon on whipped topping. Garnish with sliced bananas, strawberries, chopped nuts, and drizzle with chocolate syrup if desired.
Notes
Don’t mix the layers — dumping and layering is key for texture.
Use ripe, but not overly soft bananas for best flavor.
Serve warm for a cobbler-like dessert or chilled for a creamy, trifle-style treat.
Add maraschino cherries for a true banana split effect.
