- Salt and pepper to taste
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup vegetable oil
- 2 cups water, or as needed
- 1 teaspoon beef bouillon granules
Instructions
- Season the cube steaks with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Dredge each steak in flour, shaking off excess.
- In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the steaks and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove steaks and set aside. Reduce heat to medium.
- Add water to the skillet, stirring to loosen browned bits from the pan.
- Stir in beef bouillon granules until dissolved.
- Return steaks to the skillet. Cover and simmer for 25-30 minutes, or until tender.
- Serve hot, with gravy spooned over the steaks.
Notes
For a thicker gravy, mix a tablespoon of flour with a bit of water and stir into the skillet. Also, adjust the seasoning as needed.
