This Big Mac Tater Tot Casserole blends juicy beef, melty cheese, and crispy tots for a family-friendly comfort meal with a fast-food twist.
Ingredients
-
1 ½ pounds ground beef
-
1 small onion, finely chopped
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
2 tablespoons ketchup
-
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
-
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
-
Salt and black pepper, to taste
-
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
-
1 (32-ounce) bag frozen tater tots
-
½ cup chopped dill pickles (for topping)
-
2 cups shredded lettuce (for topping)
-
½ cup special sauce or Thousand Island dressing (for serving)
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
-
In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess grease.
-
Add onion, garlic, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to the beef. Stir and cook for 3–4 minutes until onions soften.
-
Spread the beef mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top.
-
Arrange tater tots in a single, even layer over the cheese, covering the surface completely.
-
Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, until tots are golden brown and crispy.
-
Let cool for 5 minutes, then top with lettuce, pickles, and a drizzle of special sauce before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, sprinkle crumbled cooked bacon on top after baking. To reheat leftovers, bake in the oven at 350°F for 15 minutes to keep the tots crisp. Serve with a side salad or coleslaw for a balanced meal.
