Description

This Big Mac Tater Tot Casserole blends juicy beef, melty cheese, and crispy tots for a family-friendly comfort meal with a fast-food twist.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tablespoons ketchup

  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 (32-ounce) bag frozen tater tots

  • ½ cup chopped dill pickles (for topping)

  • 2 cups shredded lettuce (for topping)

  • ½ cup special sauce or Thousand Island dressing (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess grease.

  3. Add onion, garlic, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to the beef. Stir and cook for 3–4 minutes until onions soften.

  4. Spread the beef mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top.

  5. Arrange tater tots in a single, even layer over the cheese, covering the surface completely.

  6. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, until tots are golden brown and crispy.

  7. Let cool for 5 minutes, then top with lettuce, pickles, and a drizzle of special sauce before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle crumbled cooked bacon on top after baking. To reheat leftovers, bake in the oven at 350°F for 15 minutes to keep the tots crisp. Serve with a side salad or coleslaw for a balanced meal.
