Description
Sweet, spiced, and irresistibly rich, this caramel apple jam captures the cozy flavors of fall in every spoonful. Perfect for toast or gifting.
Ingredients
-
4 cups chopped apples (about 4–5 apples)
-
2 tablespoons lemon juice
-
1 cup brown sugar, packed
-
1 cup granulated sugar
-
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
-
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
-
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
Instructions
-
Chop the apples into small, even pieces. Toss with lemon juice in a large pot to prevent browning.
-
Add brown sugar and granulated sugar to the pot. Stir until the apples are evenly coated and the sugar starts to dissolve.
-
Sprinkle in the cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Stir well to evenly distribute the spices.
-
Cook over medium heat, stirring often, until apples soften and the mixture becomes syrupy, about 15 minutes.
-
Continue simmering for another 20–30 minutes, stirring frequently, until thickened to your desired jam consistency.
-
Transfer to sterilized jars, let cool, and store in the refrigerator or process for shelf-stable storage.
Notes
For a smoother jam, lightly mash the apples during cooking. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months. Delicious with toast, yogurt, or cheese
