  • Author: Sarah White
  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: About 3 cups 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Sweet, spiced, and irresistibly rich, this caramel apple jam captures the cozy flavors of fall in every spoonful. Perfect for toast or gifting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups chopped apples (about 45 apples)

  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice

Instructions

  • Chop the apples into small, even pieces. Toss with lemon juice in a large pot to prevent browning.

  • Add brown sugar and granulated sugar to the pot. Stir until the apples are evenly coated and the sugar starts to dissolve.

  • Sprinkle in the cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Stir well to evenly distribute the spices.

  • Cook over medium heat, stirring often, until apples soften and the mixture becomes syrupy, about 15 minutes.

  • Continue simmering for another 20–30 minutes, stirring frequently, until thickened to your desired jam consistency.

  • Transfer to sterilized jars, let cool, and store in the refrigerator or process for shelf-stable storage.

Notes

For a smoother jam, lightly mash the apples during cooking. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months. Delicious with toast, yogurt, or cheese
