Caramel Turtle Rice Krispies Treats blend caramel, chocolate, and pecans into a decadent twist on classic Rice Krispies treats.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 10 ounces marshmallows (about 40 large or 4 cups mini)
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 cup caramel bits, unwrapped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • 4 ounces milk chocolate, chopped (for drizzling)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for melting chocolate)
  • Pinch of sea salt (optional, for topping)

Instructions

1. Prepare the pan.

Grease a 9×13-inch pan with butter or line with parchment for easy removal.

2. Make the marshmallow base.

Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth.

3. Mix in the cereal.

Remove from heat, add Rice Krispies, and stir until fully coated.

4. Press into the pan.

Spread the cereal mixture evenly into the pan using a buttered spatula or wax paper.

5. Prepare the caramel layer.

In a saucepan, heat caramel bits and heavy cream over medium-low, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.

6. Pour caramel.

Spread the warm caramel evenly over the Rice Krispies base.

7. Add nuts.

Sprinkle pecans or walnuts evenly over the caramel layer, gently pressing them in.

8. Make chocolate drizzle.

Melt chopped chocolate with vegetable oil in the microwave in 20–30 second intervals, stirring between each.

9. Drizzle chocolate.

Using a spoon or piping bag, drizzle chocolate over the caramel layer.

10. Set and slice.

Allow everything to cool completely before slicing into squares.

Notes

Buttering your spatula prevents sticking while pressing the cereal mixture.

For extra chewiness, add an additional handful of marshmallows before mixing.

Toast nuts lightly before adding for deeper flavor.

For cleaner slices, refrigerate the tray for 30 minutes before cutting.
