  • Author: Sarah White

Description

A juicy beef patty baked into a savory lava cake with a molten cheese center. A fun, gooey twist on the classic cheeseburger.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 oz cheddar or mozzarella cheese, cut into cubes
  • 1 tablespoon breadcrumbs (optional, for binding)
  • Burger toppings of choice (ketchup, mustard, lettuce, pickles, bacon)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a muffin tin.
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until just combined.
  3. Press a layer of beef into the bottom and sides of each muffin cup, forming a hollow space in the center.
  4. Place a cube of cheese into each hollow and cover with more beef, sealing the edges well.
  5. Bake for 20–25 minutes until the beef is cooked through and cheese is molten inside.
  6. Let rest 5 minutes before carefully removing from the tin. Top with desired burger toppings and serve warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, try mixing barbecue sauce or chopped jalapeños into the beef. These can be frozen after baking and reheated in the oven. Serve with fries, onion rings, or salad for a complete meal.
