  • Yield: 6 servings

Description

A hearty, family-friendly casserole that layers seasoned beef, onions, cheese, and a golden crust. Perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)

  • 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)

  • Butter or nonstick spray, for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9-inch pie dish.

  2. In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.

  3. Add onion and garlic to the beef and sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika if using.

  4. Spread the beef mixture evenly in the pie dish and sprinkle cheese over the top.

  5. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and flour until smooth. Pour the batter over the beef and cheese.

  6. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden and set.

  7. Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For added flavor, top with ketchup, mustard, or pickle slices before serving. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for 2 months.
