A hearty, family-friendly casserole that layers seasoned beef, onions, cheese, and a golden crust. Perfect for weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
- Butter or nonstick spray, for greasing
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9-inch pie dish.
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add onion and garlic to the beef and sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika if using.
- Spread the beef mixture evenly in the pie dish and sprinkle cheese over the top.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and flour until smooth. Pour the batter over the beef and cheese.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden and set.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For added flavor, top with ketchup, mustard, or pickle slices before serving. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for 2 months.
