Description

Decadent layered treats with rich chocolate, buttery caramel, and crunchy nuts in every bite. Perfect for gifting or indulging.

Ingredients

Scale
  •  1 cup semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate, for topping
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (almonds, pecans, or hazelnuts)
  • Pinch of sea salt (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang.

  2. Melt 1 cup chocolate in a double boiler or microwave until smooth, then pour into the pan and chill until slightly firm.

  3. In a saucepan, combine sugar, butter, and heavy cream over medium heat. Stir constantly until caramel thickens and turns golden.

  4. Pour caramel over the chocolate layer, spreading evenly. Let cool slightly.

  5. Sprinkle chopped nuts evenly over the caramel, pressing gently to adhere. Add a pinch of sea salt if desired.

  6. Melt the remaining chocolate and spread over the nut layer. Chill until fully set, about 2 hours.

  7. Lift slab from pan using parchment overhang and cut into squares. Serve or store in an airtight container.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week or refrigerate for 2 weeks. Freeze individually wrapped squares for up to 3 months. Perfect with coffee, red wine, or as a dessert topping.
