Description
These Chocolate Cherry Mice are charming no-bake treats made with chocolate-dipped cherries, Hershey’s Kisses, and almond slices. Perfect for holidays or as edible gifts, they’re fun, easy, and sure to delight guests with their sweet faces and irresistible flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon shortening
- 20 maraschino cherries with stems, drained and patted dry
- 20 Hershey’s Kisses, unwrapped
- Sliced almonds (have extra on hand for matching ear sizes)
- Black icing writer
- Small red candies (dragees, cinnamon candies, or mini red pearls)
Instructions
- Prep the cherries:
Drain maraschino cherries and pat them completely dry with paper towels. Excess liquid can cause the chocolate to seize, so make sure they’re moisture-free. - Melt the chocolate:
In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine milk chocolate chips and shortening. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth and glossy. - Dip and attach:
Hold each cherry by the stem and dip it into the melted chocolate, coating it evenly. Place it on a sheet of wax or parchment paper. - Create the mouse face:
While the chocolate is still soft, gently press an unwrapped Hershey’s Kiss onto the opposite end of the cherry (the rounded side), aligning it to form the mouse’s head. - Add the ears:
Carefully insert two matching almond slices between the cherry and the Kiss to create ears. Almonds are fragile, so have extras ready in case of breaks. - Add facial details:
Once the chocolate sets slightly, use the black icing writer to add tiny eyes and a small red candy for the nose. - Set and serve:
Allow the mice to cool and set completely at room temperature or refrigerate briefly if needed. Once hardened, carefully peel from parchment and store in an airtight container.
Notes
Active time: 15 minutes
Cooling time: 10 minutes
These little mice set best at room temperature but can be chilled for faster results. Use high-quality chocolate for smoother coating, and always ensure cherries are dry—moisture is the enemy of smooth dipping chocolate.
