Description

A savory and hearty dish perfect for any meal, combining ground beef and pork with aromatic spices and a flaky crust.


Ingredients

  • 1 medium potato, peeled and cubed
  • ½ pound ground beef
  • ½ pound ground pork
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • clove garlic, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon mustard powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon dried sage
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 (15 ounce) package refrigerated pie crusts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Boil the potato cubes in salted water until tender. Drain and mash.
  3. In a large skillet, cook ground beef, ground pork, onion, and garlic over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Add mustard powder, thyme, sage, cloves, salt, and pepper to the meat mixture. Stir well.
  5. Add water and mashed potatoes to the skillet. Mix until well combined.
  6. Roll out one pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish. Fill with the meat mixture.
  7. Cover with the second pie crust, sealing and crimping the edges. Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use beef broth instead of water.
  • Serve with a side of green vegetables or a fresh salad.
