Crockpot Chicken and Gravy

Comforting Crockpot Chicken and Gravy

  • Author: Sarah White

Description

Crockpot Chicken and Gravy is a simple, hearty meal made with tender chicken and rich, savory gravy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10.75 ounces cream of chicken soup
  • 2 (0.87-ounce) envelopes chicken gravy mix, or 2 tablespoons powdered chicken gravy mix
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 to cups water (for thicker gravy use 1 cup, for thinner use 1½ cups)
  • ½ tablespoon Better Than Bouillon Chicken flavor, or 2 chicken bouillon cubes, smashed
  • 4 large chicken breasts, cut in half horizontally
  • Sliced green onions, for garnish

Instructions

1. Prepare the Gravy Mixture

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine cream of chicken soup, gravy mix, black pepper, garlic powder, water, and bouillon.
  2. Whisk until smooth.

2. Layer Ingredients in Crockpot

  1. Place chicken breast halves in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Pour the gravy mixture evenly over the chicken.

3. Cook

  1. Cover and cook on low for 5–6 hours or high for 3–4 hours.
  2. Chicken should be tender and easily shreddable.

4. Shred and Stir

  1. Use two forks to gently shred the chicken inside the crockpot.
  2. Stir the shredded meat into the gravy to coat completely.

5. Serve and Garnish

  1. Spoon over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
  2. Garnish with sliced green onions.

Notes

For creamier gravy, reduce water slightly and stir in 2 tablespoons sour cream after cooking.

Chicken thighs can be used for a juicier option.

Don’t overcook; once the chicken is tender, switch to “warm” if you’re not serving right away.
