- 2 (0.87-ounce) envelopes chicken gravy mix, or 2 tablespoons powdered chicken gravy mix
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 to 1½ cups water (for thicker gravy use 1 cup, for thinner use 1½ cups)
- ½ tablespoon Better Than Bouillon Chicken flavor, or 2 chicken bouillon cubes, smashed
- 4 large chicken breasts, cut in half horizontally
- Sliced green onions, for garnish
Instructions
1. Prepare the Gravy Mixture
- In a mixing bowl, combine cream of chicken soup, gravy mix, black pepper, garlic powder, water, and bouillon.
- Whisk until smooth.
2. Layer Ingredients in Crockpot
- Place chicken breast halves in the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Pour the gravy mixture evenly over the chicken.
3. Cook
- Cover and cook on low for 5–6 hours or high for 3–4 hours.
- Chicken should be tender and easily shreddable.
4. Shred and Stir
- Use two forks to gently shred the chicken inside the crockpot.
- Stir the shredded meat into the gravy to coat completely.
5. Serve and Garnish
- Spoon over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
- Garnish with sliced green onions.
Notes
For creamier gravy, reduce water slightly and stir in 2 tablespoons sour cream after cooking.
Chicken thighs can be used for a juicier option.
Don’t overcook; once the chicken is tender, switch to “warm” if you’re not serving right away.
