Description
This Cranberry Apple Grilled Cheese blends sweet, tart, and savory flavors into a gourmet toasted sandwich perfect for any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 slices Italian bread or sourdough
- 4 tablespoons cranberry sauce
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 1 apple, thinly sliced
- 4 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread
Lay out the bread on your workspace. Spread butter onto one side of each slice. These buttered sides will crisp against the pan. - Spread the Cranberry Sauce
Flip the slices so the unbuttered sides face up. Spread 1 tablespoon of cranberry sauce onto each of two slices. - Add Cheese
Place two slices of cheddar cheese on top of the cranberry spread. The cheese should cover most of the bread for an even melt. - Layer the Apple Slices
Add thin apple slices on top of the cheese. Aim for an even, overlapping layer for consistent texture. - Close the Sandwich
Top each sandwich with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side facing outward. - Grill the Sandwiches
Heat a skillet over medium-low heat. Place both sandwiches into the skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes per side, or until the bread becomes golden and the cheese melts. - Slice and Serve
Remove from heat, let rest for one minute, then slice diagonally and enjoy warm.
Notes
Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Pink Lady apples work best for sweetness and crunch.
Adjust cranberry sauce amount for more or less tartness.
For more richness, add a thin layer of cream cheese.
Low heat ensures even melting without burning the bread.
