Description
This Bloody Red Velvet Popcorn is a spooky-sweet Halloween snack with crimson drizzle and eerie flavor that thrills every bite.
Ingredients
- 10 cups popped popcorn (plain or lightly salted)
- ½ cup red-velvet candy melts (or red-tinted white chocolate)
- ¼ cup red syrup (grenadine or red icing gel)
Instructions
1. Prepare your popcorn.
Spread the popcorn evenly on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Remove any unpopped kernels.
2. Melt the candy melts.
Place red-velvet melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 20-second bursts, stirring between each until silky smooth. If the mix thickens, add ½ teaspoon vegetable oil to thin.
3. Drizzle the chocolate.
Transfer the melted mixture to a piping or zip-top bag and drizzle generously over the popcorn. Move your hand quickly for scattered “splatter” patterns – you’re painting edible blood!
4. Add the syrup.
Before the chocolate sets, drizzle red syrup lightly across the popcorn. Let a few spots drip for a realistic, scary finish.
5. Let it set and serve.
Allow to firm 15 minutes at room temperature (or 5 in the fridge). Break into chunks and serve immediately.
Notes
Red velvet melts give a richer color than food-colored white chocolate.
For deeper color, add a drop of black gel color to the melt.
Use grenadine for a sweet cherry note or red icing gel for thickness.
For extra spook factor, sprinkle red sugar crystals before the drizzle sets.
