- 2 large eggs, beaten
- ¼ cup water
- 1 ½ cups Italian seasoned bread crumbs
- ½ teaspoon garlic salt
- ⅔ cup all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup cornstarch
- 2 cups oil for frying, or as needed
- 1 (16 ounce) package mozzarella cheese sticks
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the beaten eggs and water.
- In a separate bowl, mix the bread crumbs and garlic salt.
- In another bowl, combine flour and cornstarch.
- Dip each mozzarella stick first in the flour mixture, then in the egg mixture, and finally coat with the bread crumbs.
- Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a tray and freeze for 1-2 hours.
- Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the mozzarella sticks in batches until golden brown, about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
- Drain on paper towels and serve immediately with marinara sauce.
Notes
For extra crispiness, double coat the mozzarella sticks by repeating the dipping process.
