Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 ½ cups Italian seasoned bread crumbs
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • ⅔ cup all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup cornstarch
  • 2 cups oil for frying, or as needed
  • 1 (16 ounce) package mozzarella cheese sticks

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine the beaten eggs and water.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the bread crumbs and garlic salt.
  • In another bowl, combine flour and cornstarch.
  • Dip each mozzarella stick first in the flour mixture, then in the egg mixture, and finally coat with the bread crumbs.
  • Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a tray and freeze for 1-2 hours.
  • Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry the mozzarella sticks in batches until golden brown, about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  • Drain on paper towels and serve immediately with marinara sauce.

Notes

For extra crispiness, double coat the mozzarella sticks by repeating the dipping process.
