  • Author: Sarah White
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 26–28 cookies
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

These iconic cookies are chewy, chocolatey, and nutty, just like the famous DoubleTree hotel treat. Bake them at home for a warm, comforting delight.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup old fashioned oats

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 ⅔ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1 ¾ cups chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. In a bowl, whisk together oats, flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.

  3. In a large bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy.

  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each, then mix in vanilla.

  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.

  6. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts evenly throughout the dough.

  7. Scoop dough into balls and place on prepared sheets about 2 inches apart.

  8. Bake 18–20 minutes until edges are golden brown but centers are soft.

  9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.

Notes

Chill dough for 1 hour before baking for thicker cookies. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze baked cookies for 3 months.
