Description

Soft, spiced apple donuts topped with a buttery crumb layer. A cozy baked treat perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a fall-inspired dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups pancake mix
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 large egg
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 cup finely chopped or grated apple
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour (for crumb topping)
  • ¼ cup brown sugar (for crumb topping)
  • 3 tablespoons cold butter, cubed (for crumb topping)
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon (for crumb topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan.
  2. In a small bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and butter cubes. Mix with a fork until crumbly; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk pancake mix, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add egg, milk, and melted butter; stir until just combined.
  4. Fold in the chopped apple gently. The batter should be thick but not dry.
  5. Spoon or pipe the batter into the donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
  6. Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over each donut, pressing lightly to help it stick.
  7. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Delicious served with coffee, chai tea, or warm apple cider.
