Description

Bold and zesty Cajun Chicken Sloppy Joes are a quick, flavorful twist on a classic comfort food, perfect for weeknights or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground chicken

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1/2 onion, finely diced

  • 1 bell pepper, finely diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 23 tbsp Cajun seasoning (to taste)

  • 1 cup tomato sauce or ketchup

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • 4 hamburger buns, toasted

  • Optional: shredded cheese, coleslaw, or pickles for topping

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and bell pepper, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.

  2. Add the ground chicken, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 6–8 minutes.

  3. Stir in garlic and Cajun seasoning, cooking for another minute until fragrant.

  4. Add tomato sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Reduce heat and simmer for 5–7 minutes, allowing the mixture to thicken and flavors to meld.

  5. Season with salt and pepper as needed. Spoon the mixture onto toasted buns and add desired toppings before serving.

Notes

Toasting the buns prevents sogginess and adds flavor. The filling can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
