- 2 cups milk
- 1 ½ cups shredded Cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Layer half of the potatoes in a greased baking dish. Top with onion slices and season with salt and pepper.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and salt, cooking for 1 minute.
- Gradually add milk, stirring constantly until thickened.

- Pour half of the cheese sauce over the potatoes and onion. Repeat layers.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour. Remove foil and bake an additional 30 minutes until golden brown.
