Description
A creamy, cheesy, and savory casserole made with ground beef, French onion soup, and rice. Perfect for a hearty family dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 (10.5 oz) can French onion soup
- 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup uncooked long-grain rice
- 2 cups water or beef broth
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, then stir in chopped onion until softened.
- Transfer beef mixture to a bowl and mix with French onion soup, cream of mushroom soup, and uncooked rice. Stir until combined.
- Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Pour in water or beef broth and gently stir. Cover tightly with foil.
- Bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle with shredded cheese, and bake uncovered for an additional 10–15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving warm.
Notes
 Leftovers keep well in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or can be frozen for 3 months. Pair with a green salad or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
