Ingredients
- 1 lb breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- Maple syrup, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned and crumbled; drain excess grease.
- In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk milk, eggs, and melted butter until smooth.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring just until blended.
- Pour half the batter into the dish, layer sausage evenly, then top with remaining batter.
- Bake 35–40 minutes, until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool for 5 minutes before slicing; serve warm with maple syrup if desired.
Notes
Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for 2 months. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
