Crispy, golden crab bites packed with tender jumbo lump crab meat and a creamy, flavorful binder. Perfect for appetizers or party snacks
Ingredients
- 1 pound jumbo lump crab meat, fresh or pasteurized
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
Instructions
- Gently pick through the crab meat to remove any shells or cartilage.
- In a medium bowl, combine the crab meat, mayonnaise, and beaten egg until well incorporated.
- Shape the mixture into small, bite-sized balls using your hands or a spoon.
- Chill the crab balls in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or skillet to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the crab balls in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3–4 minutes per batch.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve warm.
Notes
 Serve with a zesty aioli or cocktail sauce. Can be prepared a few hours in advance and refrigerated before frying.
