Crispy, golden crab bites packed with tender jumbo lump crab meat and a creamy, flavorful binder. Perfect for appetizers or party snacks

Ingredients

  • 1 pound jumbo lump crab meat, fresh or pasteurized

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten

Instructions

  1. Gently pick through the crab meat to remove any shells or cartilage.

  2. In a medium bowl, combine the crab meat, mayonnaise, and beaten egg until well incorporated.

  3. Shape the mixture into small, bite-sized balls using your hands or a spoon.

  4. Chill the crab balls in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up.

  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or skillet to 350°F (175°C).

  6. Fry the crab balls in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3–4 minutes per batch.

  7. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve warm.

Notes

Serve with a zesty aioli or cocktail sauce. Can be prepared a few hours in advance and refrigerated before frying.
