Description
Serve Bloody Eyeball Cocktails this Halloween using lychees, blueberries, red wine, and cranberry juice. Creepy, fun, and deliciously spooky!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can of lychees (or 12 fresh lychees, peeled and pitted)
- 12 fresh blueberries (small enough to fit into lychees)
- 2 cups red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot works well)
- 1 cup cranberry juice
- 1/2 cup water or sparkling water
- Ice cubes
- Red gel food coloring (optional)
- Small artist’s brush (for adding blood effect)
Instructions
- Prepare the eyeballs: Insert a fresh blueberry into the cavity of each lychee. The darker the berry, the more realistic it looks.
- Create blood drips (optional): Using a small artist’s brush, paint streaks of red gel food coloring around the lychee to resemble bloodshot veins. Chill until ready to use.
- Mix the drink base: In a large pitcher, combine red wine, cranberry juice, and water or sparkling water. Stir well.
- Assemble the cocktails: Fill each glass with ice and 2-3 lychee eyeballs. Pour the drink mixture over the top.
- Serve cold: Stir lightly before serving. Add more eyeballs for dramatic effect!
Notes
For a non-alcoholic version, replace wine with pomegranate juice or black cherry soda.
Make eyeballs ahead and store in the fridge for up to a day.
Add dry ice to the serving bowl for a smoky, haunted vibe.
