Description

Spooky Halloween Ghost Pizza topped with mozzarella ghosts and black olive eyes — fun, festive, and perfect for Halloween night!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Pizza Dough

  • 2 cups + 2 tablespoons (11 oz / 312g) bread flour
  • 1⅛ teaspoons instant or rapid-rise yeast
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ¾ cup (6 oz / 177 ml) filtered water

Super-Simple Pizza Sauce

  • 16 oz (two 8-ounce cans) tomato sauce
  • 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1½ teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1½ teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon onion salt
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

For the Mozzarella Ghosts

  • 6 slices (4 oz / 113g) mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon sliced black olives (for the eyes)

For Assembling the Halloween Ghost Pizza

  • 8 oz prepared pizza dough (from above)
  • 1½ tablespoons olive oil
  • ⅓ cup super-simple pizza sauce (from above)
  • ¼ cup (0.75 oz / 22g) freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1½ cups (6 oz / 170g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil (for drizzling after baking)

Instructions

  1. Make the Pizza Dough
In a mixing bowl, combine bread flour, yeast, and salt. Add olive oil and water. Stir until a dough forms, then knead by hand for about 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover with a towel and let rise in a warm place for 45 minutes or until doubled in size.
  2. Prepare the Pizza Sauce
In a small saucepan, combine tomato sauce, tomato paste, garlic, oregano, basil, sugar, onion salt, and salt. Simmer over medium-low heat for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Create the Mozzarella Ghosts
Use a ghost-shaped cookie cutter or cut freehand with a knife to shape mozzarella slices into ghosts. Use small bits of black olive slices to make tiny eyes and press them gently into each cheese ghost.
  4. Assemble the Pizza
Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Roll or stretch 8 oz of pizza dough into a 10-12 inch circle on a lightly floured surface. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet or pizza stone. Brush with 1½ tablespoons olive oil.
  5. Add the Toppings
Spread ⅓ cup pizza sauce evenly over the dough. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan and shredded mozzarella. Arrange the cheese ghosts on top.
  6. Bake the Pizza
Bake for 12–14 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly. Drizzle with 1 teaspoon olive oil immediately after removing from oven.
  7. Serve and Enjoy!
Let the pizza cool slightly, then slice and serve while warm. Perfect for spooky celebrations!

Notes

Make the dough ahead of time and refrigerate for up to 2 days.

Use whole milk mozzarella for better melting and flavor.

Want more “ghosts”? Double the amount of sliced mozzarella and layer creatively.

This recipe can be doubled for a larger party or made into individual mini pizzas.

Substitute store-bought dough if you’re in a time crunch — no shame in keeping it easy.
