Description
Sweet, salty, and spooky! This Halloween Snack Mix with Peanut Butter Caramel is the perfect festive treat for parties or gifting.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 cups air-popped popcorn
- 3 cups mini-twist pretzels
- 1 cup roasted salted peanuts
- 1 cup candy corn
- 1 cup Reese’s Pieces
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- ¼ cup honey
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- Orange candy melts and Halloween sprinkles (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare a large mixing bowl: In the biggest mixing bowl you have, combine the popcorn, pretzels, and peanuts. Set aside.
- Make the caramel: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter, honey, sugar, and salt. Stir continuously until the sugar dissolves and the mixture begins to bubble (about 3-5 minutes).
- Add peanut butter and cream: Lower the heat and stir in the peanut butter and heavy cream. Continue stirring until the mixture is smooth and thick, about 2-3 minutes.
- Pour and toss: Pour the warm caramel sauce over the popcorn mixture. Use a large spatula or clean hands to gently toss everything together until coated.
- Add candy: Once slightly cooled (but still tacky), stir in the candy corn and Reese’s Pieces.
- Optional garnish: Melt orange candy melts and drizzle over the top. Add Halloween sprinkles for an extra festive look.
- Cool and store: Spread the mix onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and let it cool completely. Once hardened, break into chunks and store in an airtight container.
Notes
You can swap in kettle corn for extra sweetness or use unsalted popcorn for more control over the salt.
Avoid overmixing once candy is added—it can melt or bleed colors if the mix is too warm.
For a thinner caramel coating, reduce peanut butter to ⅓ cup.
