Description

Juicy beef patties topped with grilled pineapple and savory teriyaki sauce for a tropical twist on a classic burger.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)

  • 1 small onion, grated

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 4 pineapple rings, fresh

  • 4 burger buns

  • Lettuce leaves, for topping

  • Tomato slices, for topping

  • 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce (see instructions for homemade)

Instructions

  1. n a large bowl, combine ground beef, grated onion, minced garlic, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently and form into four even patties.

  2. For the teriyaki sauce, combine soy sauce, pineapple juice, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger in a small saucepan. Simmer 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened.

  3. Preheat the grill or grill pan over medium heat. Grill pineapple rings 2–3 minutes per side until caramelized, then set aside.

  4. Grill the burger patties 4–5 minutes per side, brushing with teriyaki sauce in the last 2 minutes. Ensure internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

  5. Lightly toast burger buns. Assemble burgers with patty, pineapple, lettuce, tomato, and extra teriyaki sauce. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use lean turkey or chicken for a lighter version. Patties and sauce can be prepared ahead and refrigerated; assemble fresh. Serve with sweet potato fries or a tropical salad.
