Homemade Kool-Aid Fruit Roll-Ups

  • Author: Sarah White

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Kool-Aid powder (choose your favorite flavor)

  • 1 cup water

  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup

  • 1 cup applesauce

Instructions

Step 1: Dissolving Kool-Aid Powder in Water

Start by mixing the Kool-Aid powder into the water. Stir continuously until the powder is completely dissolved. This step is essential for even flavor distribution and smooth texture.

Step 2: Adding Corn Syrup and Combining Ingredients

Next, add the corn syrup and stir well. The corn syrup enhances the chewiness of your fruit roll-ups. Afterward, mix in the applesauce until the mixture is smooth and uniform. Avoid lumps to ensure even drying.

Step 3: Preparing and Spreading the Mixture

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Pour the fruit mixture onto the sheet and spread it evenly with a spatula. The thickness should be about 1/8 inch for best results.

Step 4: Drying Process: Oven vs. Dehydrator

Dry the mixture at 170°F (75°C) in an oven or use a food dehydrator. This process usually takes 6–8 hours. You will know it’s ready when the fruit roll-ups are no longer sticky to the touch.

Step 5: Final Steps: Peeling, Cutting, and Rolling

Once dried, carefully peel the fruit sheet from the parchment paper. Cut it into strips, then roll each strip tightly. Store the rolls in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
