  • Author: Sarah White
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: About 3 cups (enough for 24 cupcakes or one 9-inch cake)
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

This creamy homemade peanut butter frosting is fluffy, rich, and perfectly sweetened—ideal for cakes, cupcakes, and brownies. Quick and easy to whip up in minutes!

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, room temperature

  • ¾ cup creamy peanut butter (no-stir variety)

  • 3–4 cups powdered sugar, sifted

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2–3 tablespoons milk or heavy cream

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and peanut butter with an electric mixer until smooth and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.

  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low speed until fully incorporated.

  3. Add the vanilla extract and 2 tablespoons of milk or cream, then beat on medium speed until smooth.

  4. Adjust consistency by adding more milk (for softer frosting) or powdered sugar (for thicker frosting).

  5. Whip on medium-high for 2–3 minutes until light and fluffy, then use immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or brownies.

Notes

Store frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Re-whip before using. For a chocolate twist, add ½ cup cocoa powder.
