Description

A delightful blend of crispy shrimp and candied walnuts in a creamy sauce, perfect for a special dinner or a treat for yourself.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • ⅔ cup white sugar
  • ½ cup walnuts
  • 4 large egg whites
  • ⅔ cup mochiko (glutinous rice flour)
  • 1 cup vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon canned sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  • Prep the Walnuts: First, bring the water and sugar to a boil in a small saucepan. Add the walnuts and cook until the syrup thickens, then drain and set aside.
  • Batter and Fry Shrimp: Next, beat the egg whites until frothy. Add the mochiko and mix well to form a batter. Coat the shrimp in the batter and fry in hot vegetable oil until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  • Prepare the Sauce: In a bowl, mix the mayonnaise, honey, and condensed milk until smooth.
  • Combine and Serve: Finally, toss the fried shrimp with the sauce and top with the candied walnuts. Serve immediately.

Notes

For extra crispiness, ensure the oil is hot before frying. Also, consider using a deep fryer for even cooking.
