- 3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
- 2 cups white sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Butter Sauce:
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter
- 3 tablespoons water
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease a bundt pan thoroughly.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
- Add buttermilk, softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and well combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan.
- Bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Prepare the butter sauce by combining sugar, butter, and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook until the butter melts and sugar dissolves, then remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Poke holes in the cake and pour the sauce over it while the cake is still warm.
- Let the cake cool completely in the pan before turning it out onto a serving plate.

For the best results, use room temperature ingredients and ensure the cake is well-soaked with the butter sauce.
