Ingredients
-
1 lb ground beef
-
1 onion, chopped
-
2 cups macaroni noodles (uncooked)
-
8 oz Velveeta cheese
-
1 can cheddar cheese soup
-
½ tsp onion powder
-
1 tsp garlic powder
-
8 oz sour cream
-
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
-
¼ cup milk
-
8 slices American cheese
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
1 cup crushed Ritz cracker crumbs
Instructions
-
Preheat and Prep:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. -
Cook Beef and Onion:
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until beef is browned and onion is softened. Drain excess fat. -
Add Seasonings & Soups:
Stir in onion powder, garlic powder, cheddar cheese soup, sour cream, Parmesan cheese, Velveeta (cubed for melting), and milk. Season with salt and pepper. Stir until cheese is melted and mixture is smooth. -
Cook Macaroni:
Meanwhile, cook macaroni noodles according to package directions until al dente. Drain. -
Combine with Macaroni:
Add the cooked macaroni to the beef-cheese sauce, stirring until noodles are evenly coated. -
Layer in Pan:
Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Arrange American cheese slices over the top in an even layer. -
Add Cracker Topping:
Sprinkle the crushed Ritz cracker crumbs evenly over the cheese layer. -
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, the top is bubbly, and crumbs are golden. -
Serve:
Let rest 5 minutes before serving. Serve warm for creamy, cheesy comfort.
Notes
Cubing Velveeta helps it melt more evenly.
Adjust milk as needed for sauce consistency—add a splash more if too thick.
Ritz crumbs toast nicely; to boost crunch, mix them with a bit of melted butter before topping.
