Description
Easy Mummy-Wrapped Brie recipe with puff pastry, apricot jam, and a spooky twist. A crowd-pleasing Halloween party appetizer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (17.3 ounces) frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1/4 cup apricot jam
- 1 round (16 ounces) Brie cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- 2 dried cranberries or raisins (for eyes)
- Apple slices, crackers, or baguette slices (for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out one puff pastry sheet and place it on the baking sheet. Spread apricot jam in the center to match the size of the Brie.
- Place Brie round on top of the jam.
- Cut the second sheet of pastry into thin strips (about 1/2 inch wide).
- Wrap the Brie with strips in a crisscross pattern to mimic mummy bandages, leaving a small gap for the “face.” Tuck ends under.
- Whisk egg and water in a small bowl. Brush the puff pastry with egg wash.
- Add eyes by placing two dried cranberries or raisins in the gap between pastry strips.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until pastry is puffed and golden brown.
- Let rest for 5 minutes, then serve warm with apple slices and crackers.
Notes
Trim excess pastry to prevent soggy spots.
Substitute fig, raspberry, or pepper jelly if desired.
For a spookier look, use black olive slices for eyes.
