Mummy-Wrapped Brie Recipe

  • Author: Sarah White

Description

Easy Mummy-Wrapped Brie recipe with puff pastry, apricot jam, and a spooky twist. A crowd-pleasing Halloween party appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (17.3 ounces) frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/4 cup apricot jam
  • 1 round (16 ounces) Brie cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 dried cranberries or raisins (for eyes)
  • Apple slices, crackers, or baguette slices (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out one puff pastry sheet and place it on the baking sheet. Spread apricot jam in the center to match the size of the Brie.
  3. Place Brie round on top of the jam.
  4. Cut the second sheet of pastry into thin strips (about 1/2 inch wide).
  5. Wrap the Brie with strips in a crisscross pattern to mimic mummy bandages, leaving a small gap for the “face.” Tuck ends under.
  6. Whisk egg and water in a small bowl. Brush the puff pastry with egg wash.
  7. Add eyes by placing two dried cranberries or raisins in the gap between pastry strips.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  9. Let rest for 5 minutes, then serve warm with apple slices and crackers.

Notes

Trim excess pastry to prevent soggy spots.

Substitute fig, raspberry, or pepper jelly if desired.

For a spookier look, use black olive slices for eyes.
