Oyster Sauce Beef Onion Stir-Fry

  • Author: Sarah White
  • Total Time: 30 min
  • Yield: 4 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced

  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp cornstarch

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/2 tsp fresh ginger, minced

  • 1/4 cup water

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 2 green onions, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Beef:
In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with oyster sauce, soy sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for 10–15 minutes.

  2. Cook the Beef:
Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.

  3. Sauté the Aromatics:
Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the same pan. Add the sliced onion, minced garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry until fragrant and the onions turn translucent, about 2–3 minutes.

  4. Combine & Finish:
Return the beef to the pan. Add 1/4 cup water and stir-fry everything together for another 2–3 minutes, until the sauce slightly thickens.

  5. Season & Serve:
Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped green onions if using. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
