Ingredients
-
1 cup corn syrup
-
1 cup brown sugar
-
1 cup melted butter
-
4 large eggs
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
½ tsp salt
-
1 box yellow cake mix (dry)
-
1½ cups chopped pecans
-
Cooking spray or butter for greasing
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
-
In a bowl, whisk together corn syrup, brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, vanilla, and salt until fully blended.
-
Pour the mixture evenly into the greased pan.
-
Sprinkle dry cake mix evenly on top—do not stir.
-
Scatter chopped pecans over the surface.
-
Bake for 40–45 minutes or until the top is golden and the center is set.
Let it cool for 15–20 minutes before serving. This helps the texture settle into that gooey, pie-like layer we all love.
