Description

A rich, old-fashioned fudge made with brown sugar for a caramel-like flavor. Creamy, buttery, and perfect for gifting or indulging.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups packed light brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup whole milk

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. n 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.

  2. In a heavy saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter, and milk. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves.

  3. Attach a candy thermometer and cook without stirring until the mixture reaches 238°F (soft-ball stage).

  4. Remove from heat, add vanilla, and let cool for 5 minutes. Stir in nuts if using.

  5. Beat mixture with a wooden spoon until thickened and slightly dull in appearance.

  6. Spread evenly in the prepared pan, let cool, then cut into squares.

Notes

Store fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, or refrigerate for up to 3 weeks. For longer storage, freeze for up to 3 months.
