Peppermint Brownies – Fudgy Holiday Brownies with Frosting

  • Author: Sarah White

Description

Rich Peppermint Brownies topped with frosting, ganache, and candy canes—an easy festive dessert perfect for holiday celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale

Brownies

  • 1 (16-ounce) box brownie mix
  • Ingredients listed on the box (usually water, eggs, oil)
  • ½ cup crushed candy canes (for topping)

Peppermint Frosting

  • ¾ cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups confectioner’s sugar
  • 12 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup crushed candy canes
  • 2 drops red food coloring

Chocolate Ganache

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Brownies
Mix brownies according to the instructions on the box. Pour batter into a parchment-lined baking pan.
  2. Bake
Bake as directed until the center is set. Allow brownies to cool completely.
  3. Make the Peppermint Frosting
Beat softened butter until creamy. Add confectioner’s sugar gradually. Mix in heavy cream, crushed candy canes, and red food coloring.
  4. Frost the Brownies
Spread the peppermint frosting evenly over the cooled brownies.
  5. Prepare the Ganache
Heat heavy cream just until simmering. Pour over chocolate chips and let sit 2 minutes, then stir until smooth and glossy.
  6. Pour Ganache Over Frosting
Spread ganache gently over the peppermint frosting.
  7. Add Toppings
Sprinkle remaining crushed candy canes over the still-soft ganache.
  8. Chill and Slice
Refrigerate until set, then cut into squares.

Notes

For cleaner slices, freeze brownies for 20 minutes before cutting.

Use parchment for easy removal.

If ganache is too runny, let it thicken before pouring.

Add more red food coloring for a deeper pink frosting.
