Scale
Cookies
- ⅓ cup unsalted butter, very soft room temperature
- ⅓ cup sweetened condensed milk
- ½ teaspoon peppermint extract
- 1 cup cornstarch, plus 1 to 2 tablespoons if needed
Frosting
- 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 ½ tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 1 ½ tablespoons heavy cream
- ⅛ to ¼ teaspoon peppermint extract
Garnish
- Crushed peppermint candies
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough
In a medium bowl, beat the softened butter until smooth and creamy. Mix in the sweetened condensed milk and peppermint extract. - Add Dry Ingredients
Add the 1 cup of cornstarch and mix until a dough forms. If the dough is sticky, add 1–2 tablespoons of additional cornstarch. - Shape the Cookies
Roll the dough into small 1-inch balls. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Gently flatten the tops. - Bake
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes. The cookies should remain pale and soft. - Make the Frosting
Whisk together powdered sugar, melted butter, heavy cream, and peppermint extract until smooth. - Decorate
Spread cooled cookies with frosting and sprinkle with crushed peppermint candies.
Notes
Do not overbake—these stay pale.
For stronger mint, increase extract slightly.
If dough cracks, knead gently with your hands to warm it.
Make frosting thicker by adding extra powdered sugar.
