Ingredients

    • 4 cups warm water (100°F/40°C)
    • 2 teaspoons white sugar
    • 4 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast
    • 20 cups all-purpose flour
    • 3 cups white sugar
    • 8 teaspoons salt
    • 8 eggs, beaten
    • 2 cups butter, melted
    • 4 (8-ounce) packages sliced pepperoni

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
  • In a separate large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
  • Add eggs, melted butter, and yeast mixture to the dry ingredients. Knead until dough is smooth, about 8 minutes.
  • Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Roll dough into rectangles, placing pepperoni slices in the center of each.
  • Roll up each piece and place on a greased baking sheet.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

For a cheesy version, add mozzarella to the filling.
