Description

A quick and delicious stir-fry dish made with tender beef, colorful bell peppers, and a savory soy sauce-based sauce. Perfect for a weeknight dinner.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef top sirloin steak
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 red onion, cut into 1-inch squares
  • 1 green bell pepper, cut into 1-inch squares
  • 2 tomatoes, cut into wedges

Instructions

  • Slice the beef into thin strips.
  • In a bowl, mix soy sauce, sugar, cornstarch, and ground ginger.
  • Marinate beef in the mixture for 20 minutes.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef and stir-fry until browned. Remove from skillet.
  • Add remaining oil to the skillet. Stir-fry onion and bell pepper until tender.
  • Return beef to the skillet. Add tomatoes and cook until heated through.
  • Serve hot with rice or noodles.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Substitute beef with chicken or tofu for variation.
