Reindeer Food Recipe (Christmas Puppy Chow) – Festive Sweet Snack Mix

  • Author: Sarah White

Description

This Reindeer Food Recipe (Christmas Puppy Chow) is a no-bake holiday snack mix featuring chocolate, peanut butter, Rice Chex, pretzels, and festive candies. Sweet, crunchy, and perfectly giftable, it’s the ultimate crowd-pleaser for Christmas gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1½ cups semisweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 1½ cups creamy peanut butter
  • 5 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 1½ cups mini pretzels, broken into pieces
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1½ cups red and green M&Ms
  • 1 cup mini peanut butter cups

Instructions

  1. Melt chocolate and peanut butter.
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and peanut butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth and melted. This usually takes about 1½ minutes total.
  2. Coat the cereal.
Place the Rice Chex cereal in a large mixing bowl. Pour the melted chocolate-peanut butter mixture over the cereal and gently fold until every piece is evenly coated.
  3. Add pretzels.
Stir in the broken mini pretzel pieces for an extra salty crunch.
  4. Shake with powdered sugar.
Transfer the mixture to a large zip-top bag or container with a lid. Add the powdered sugar, seal, and shake until everything is coated and no chocolatey spots remain.
  5. Mix in festive candies.
Pour the coated cereal mixture into a large serving bowl and stir in the M&Ms and mini peanut butter cups. Mix gently to distribute evenly.
  6. Serve or store.
Serve immediately, or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.

Notes

Active time: 15 minutes | Cooling: 5 minutes
To prevent the chocolate from seizing, melt it slowly and avoid overheating. You can also melt it using a double boiler if preferred.
