- Step 1: Begin by chopping the bacon into small pieces. Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until it becomes crispy.
- Step 2: While the bacon is cooking, chop the cabbage and onion. Once the bacon is done, remove it from the skillet and set it aside, but leave the bacon grease in the skillet for added flavor.
- Step 3: Add the chopped onion to the skillet and sauté it until it becomes soft and fragrant.
- Step 4: Stir in the chopped cabbage, seasoning salt, and chicken broth. Cover the skillet and let the cabbage steam for about 5-7 minutes until it begins to soften.
- Step 5: Uncover the skillet and stir in the butter and cooked bacon. Allow the mixture to cook for an additional 5 minutes until the cabbage is tender and flavorful.
- Step 6: Serve the fried cabbage hot, garnished with extra bacon if desired.
Notes
For an added kick, sprinkle in some red pepper flakes or a dash of smoked paprika. This recipe can easily be doubled if you’re serving a larger group.
