Snakewich Party Sub Recipe

  • Author: Sarah White

Description

This Snakewich Party Sub is a fun, creepy-cute Halloween sandwich that’s perfect for parties—loaded with turkey, cheese, veggies, and serious style.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 hoagie rolls, sliced lengthwise
  • 1 cup mayo
  • pounds deli sliced turkey
  • 8 ounces sliced cheese (Swiss, cheddar, provolone, or your choice)
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 3 large tomatoes, sliced
  • Oil and vinegar (optional)
  • Black pepper (optional)

For the face:

  • 4 pimento-stuffed olives (for eyes)
  • 1 slice cheese (for tongue)

Instructions

  1. Arrange the rolls: On a large serving board or tray, arrange the 12 hoagie rolls in a curving snake shape. Slightly overlap or angle them to create a snakelike body.
  2. Spread the mayo: Open each hoagie roll and spread a thin layer of mayo on the inside of the bread.
  3. Layer the fillings:
    • Place slices of turkey evenly across all rolls.
    • Add sliced cheese on top of the turkey.
    • Layer on shredded lettuce and tomato slices.
    • Optional: Drizzle with oil and vinegar and sprinkle with black pepper.
  4. Close the sandwiches: Fold the top halves of the rolls back over the fillings. Gently press each sandwich to keep them compact.
  5. Create the snake face:
    • Use 2 hoagie roll halves for the snake’s head.
    • Press pimento-stuffed olives into the top roll for eyes.
    • Cut a forked tongue shape from a slice of cheese and place it at the end of the sandwich to stick out as the tongue.
  6. Add finishing touches:
    • If desired, use green or red lettuce at the tail end to mimic scales.
    • Use toothpicks or skewers to hold shape if transporting.
  7. Serve: Serve as is or slice into individual sections if needed. Perfect with chips, pickles, or a Halloween veggie platter.

Notes

Use different cheeses to make a pattern along the body.

Secure with toothpicks for stability, especially if moving the sub.

Want more color? Add roasted red peppers or purple cabbage inside for a spooky twist.
