Description
A bold, cheesy burger loaded with crunchy Doritos and molten queso for a spicy, indulgent twist on classic comfort food.
Ingredients
-
1 lb ground beef (80/20)
-
4 burger buns
-
1 cup Nacho Cheese Doritos, crushed
-
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
-
1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
-
2 tbsp butter
-
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
-
1/2 cup milk
-
1 tsp chili powder
-
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
-
Lettuce, tomato, and pickles for topping
-
Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
-
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, and chili powder. Mix gently and shape into equal patties, slightly thinner in the middle.
-
Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and cook patties 4–5 minutes per side until desired doneness is reached.
-
In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, whisk in flour to make a roux, then slowly add milk while whisking until smooth.
-
Stir in shredded cheddar, Monterey Jack, and cayenne pepper until fully melted to create the queso. Keep warm.
-
Toast the burger buns in a dry skillet or under the broiler until lightly golden.
-
Assemble burgers by spreading queso on the bottom bun, adding lettuce, tomato, the cooked patty, crushed Doritos, extra queso, and topping with the other bun.
-
Serve immediately with fries or extra Doritos on the side.
Notes
Store leftover patties in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat gently. Queso can be reheated with a splash of milk. For make-ahead, freeze uncooked patties separated by parchment paper. Experiment with different Doritos flavors or cheeses for variation.
