Ingredients
Scale
- 250g kataifi dough
- 100g mixed nuts (almonds, walnuts, pistachios, etc.), chopped
- 100g melted butter
- 100g honey
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 100g cream cheese (for frosting)
- Food coloring (for decoration)
- Candy eyes (or similar edible decorations)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Prepare the filling: Mix the chopped nuts, honey, cinnamon, and vanilla extract in a bowl.
- Work with kataifi dough: Gently separate and fluff the kataifi dough, ensuring it doesn’t tear. Brush it with melted butter.
- Fill and roll: Take a small portion of the dough, place some nut filling in the center, and roll the dough around it to form a small nest-like shape.
- Bake: Place the filled kataifi nests on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
- Decorate: Once cool, use cream cheese frosting mixed with food coloring to decorate the kataifi as monsters. Add candy eyes and other edible decorations to create “faces.”
Notes
- Ensure the kataifi dough stays moist while working by covering it with a damp cloth.
- Get creative with the monster decorations—use various colored frostings or sprinkles to give each one a unique personality.
