- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup butter (room temperature)
- 1½ cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp orange gel food coloring (electric orange)
- 1 tsp black gel food coloring (super black)
- Halloween sprinkles (optional)
Instructions

- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, followed by vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until combined.
- Divide the dough into two equal portions. Mix orange gel food coloring into one half and black gel food coloring into the other.
- Roll each portion into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
- Layer the orange dough over the black dough, gently pressing them together. Roll tightly into a log.
- Wrap the log in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- Slice the log into ¼-inch thick rounds and place on the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are set but not browned.
- Let cool before decorating with sprinkles if desired.
Notes
- For other color combos, you can use purple and green or orange and purple.
- Sprinkles are optional but can add a fun and festive element.
