Description
This Spooky Spiderweb Popcorn recipe is a fun, easy Halloween treat with chocolate drizzle and candy spiders that kids love.
Ingredients
- 10 cups popped popcorn (plain or lightly salted)
- ½ cup dark chocolate chips
- Plastic or gummy spiders for decoration
Instructions
1. Prepare your popcorn base.
Spread the popped popcorn in a single layer over a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Pick out any unpopped kernels to ensure a perfect snacking texture.
2. Melt the chocolate.
Place the dark chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 20-second intervals, stirring between each until smooth. Alternatively, melt using a double boiler for extra control and shine.
3. Create the “spiderweb” drizzle.
Transfer the melted chocolate into a piping bag (or ziplock bag with the corner snipped). Drizzle the chocolate in overlapping circular motions to mimic spiderweb strands. The more random, the spookier!
4. Add your creepy crawlers.
Before the chocolate sets, gently press gummy or plastic spiders onto the web. If using plastic, remove them before serving — they’re for decoration only.
5. Let it set.
Allow the chocolate to firm up at room temperature for about 10–15 minutes, or refrigerate for 5 minutes if you’re in a hurry. Break into clusters and serve in a festive Halloween bowl.
Notes
For extra contrast, add white chocolate drizzle over the dark to create a layered cobweb effect.
Use flavored popcorn (like caramel or kettle corn) for a sweeter twist.
If you’re making this for kids, ensure all decorations are edible.
A sprinkle of edible glitter adds an extra magical (and Instagram-worthy) touch.
