Description
These Strawberry Santas are adorable mini desserts made from strawberries, cream cheese frosting, and simple decorations. They’re festive, fun, and perfect for adding a touch of whimsy to any holiday celebration — all without turning on the oven.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1¼ cups powdered sugar
- 20 large strawberries
- 1 (1.3-ounce) tube black decorating icing
- 20 round red sprinkles or 1 (.67-ounce) tube orange/red decorating icing
Instructions
- Prepare the frosting: In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth and fluffy. Transfer the mixture into a piping bag fitted with a small round tip (or use a zip-top bag with the corner snipped off).
- Prep the strawberries: Wash and thoroughly dry the strawberries. Slice off the leafy green tops to create a flat base so they stand upright. Then, cut off the tip of each strawberry (about ¼ inch from the top) — this will be the “hat.”
- Assemble the Santas: Pipe a small swirl of the cream cheese mixture on the cut side of the strawberry base (this forms the “beard”).
- Add the hat: Place the cut tip of the strawberry back on top of the filling to form Santa’s hat, leaving a little frosting visible underneath.
- Make the pom-pom: Pipe a tiny dot of frosting on top of the strawberry hat to complete Santa’s hat.
- Add eyes and buttons: Use the black decorating icing to dot on eyes. Then, either use a red sprinkle or a tiny dot of red icing for the nose.
- Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 4 hours before serving.
Notes
Active time: about 20 minutes; passive time: minimal — best served fresh.
Make sure your strawberries are completely dry before assembling; moisture can make the frosting slide.
If you don’t have a piping bag, a small zip-top bag with a corner cut off works perfectly.
Use small tweezers or a toothpick for easy placement of the “eyes” and “nose.”
