- 1 ½ teaspoons salt
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ cup Christmas nonpareil sprinkles
Frosting Ingredients
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Christmas sprinkles, for topping
Instructions
1. Cream the butter and sugars.
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
2. Add the eggs and vanilla.
Mix in eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Add vanilla extract and mix well.
3. Combine dry ingredients.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and baking powder.
4. Form the dough.
Add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined. Fold in Christmas sprinkles.
5. Press and bake.
Press the dough evenly into a parchment-lined 9×13-inch baking pan. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 16–20 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
6. Cool completely.
Allow the bars to cool fully before adding frosting.
7. Make the frosting.
Beat butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and cream until smooth and fluffy. Adjust consistency with more cream if needed.
8. Frost and decorate.
Spread frosting over cooled bars and top with sprinkles. Slice and serve.
Notes
Do not overbake; bars should stay pale for a soft texture.
Use room-temperature butter and eggs for smoother mixing.
Always cool the bars fully before frosting to prevent melting.
